Jon Irabagon, winner of the 2008 Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition, has been merging the possibilities of straight ahead jazz with adventurous improvisation for over two decades. The recipient of the Pamana Ng Pilipino Presidential Award (the highest honor a civilian overseas Filipino can receive for their contribution to the global perceptions of people of Filipino descent) in 2014, Irabagon has performed with many of today's musical innovators, including Mary Halvorson, Dave Douglas, Barry Altschul, Patricia Brennan, Rudy Royston, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Kenny Wheeler, Rufus Reid, Maria Schneider and many more. Irabagon has also won composer support and commissions from Chamber Music America, the Mid-Atlantic Foundation, USArtists International, the Illinois Arts Council, South Arts and the Shifting Foundation, and has released 15 of his own albums. The Jon Irabagon Quartet has released several albums including Rising Sun, Recharge the Blade and Server Farm.
