Marta Sánchez presents the music from her latest release, the solo piano album For the Space You Left, released April 17 on Out of Your Head Records. The program features pieces written over an extended period, often during moments of isolation and introspection. Composed primarily for prepared piano, the work explores resonance, texture, and silence, with subtle use of electronics that expands the instrument’s sonic palette while maintaining an intimate, acoustic focus.

​​Marta Sánchez is a Spanish jazz pianist and composer based in New York City, acclaimed for her innovative voice and original compositions. Her quintet’s albums Partenika and El Rayo de Luz were named among The New York Times’ “10 Best Albums” lists for 2015 and 2019, earning praise from DownBeat, The Wall Street Journal, NPR and more. Sánchez was honored as a DownBeat Rising Star in 2025, and has received international press acclaim for her ensemble and trio projects. Since 2022 she has been the pianist in the David Murray Quartet.
