Firehouse 12 is pleased to present Michael Formanek and Elusion Quartet as they celebrate the release of their latest album, Time Like This (Intakt Records). Michael Formanek has previously performed at Firehouse 12 as part of Mary Halvorson's Code Girl and the collective trio Thumbscrew.

Ed Hazell of Point of Departure wrote about the Elusion Quartet's new release, "although the instrumentation is that of a standard jazz quartet, they avoid the traditional horn-with-rhythm-section hierarchy in favor of a more democratic interchange of roles, which only heightens the ambiguities and blurred boundaries in the music."

Formanek has been professionally touring and playing music since he was a teenager performing with Tony Williams and Joe Henderson. He's performed with other legends like Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan and Freddie Hubbard. In recent years he's been pushing the boundaries of creative music with stellar ensembles like Thumbscrew, Very Practical Trio, and his big-band Ensemble Kolossus.
