Sanctuary Saturdays are a monthly event hosted by the Bar at Firehouse 12. We select an incorporated not-for-profit (IRS 501(c)(3)), and on the evening of the event, we donate 100% of the evening's profits from all food and beverage sales to the organization. Past events have benefited organizations working on social and environmental justice, civil rights, and other programs benefiting underserved vulnerable, local populations.

The evenings are an opportunity for like-minded people who support the cause to socialize, eat, and drink, knowing that all the money they spend goes to support the evening's beneficiary!

We hosted our first event in 2017. A list of past recipients can be found at the bottom of this page.

Next up: Saturday, APRIL 13, 2019.

New Haven Farms (NHF) was founded in 2012 in response to the intersecting crises of diabetes, obesity, environmental degradation, and poverty, with the mission of promoting health and community development through urban agriculture. NHF cultivates seven plots across the city of New Haven, in which they grow high quality organic produce and deliver wellness programming for low income families in the community.  In partnership with local health clinics, primary health care providers refer individuals with risk factors for chronic diet related illness to NHF's innovative Farm Based Wellness Program. Families come to the farm weekly throughout the growing season and receive cooking, nutrition, and gardening education, going home with a basket of fresh produce and the community support to effect long term lifestyle change. By harnessing the energy of the community and the power of food as medicine, New Haven farms is transforming neighborhoods and empowering families across the city of New Haven.
