Tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery has become one of the Jazz world's most talented rising stars and in-demand sidemen. Wayne earned a Bachelor's degree from the Hartt School of Music, having been granted a full scholarship by his mentor at Hartt, Jackie McLean. He went on to attend the Thelonious Monk Institute and to earn a Master's degree from New England Conservatory. From there he moved to New York and has gone on to appear as a sideman with a broad range of artists including Eric Reed, Lonnie Plaxico, Abdullah Ibrahim and Joe Locke. Presently, he can be heard leading his own bands and performing in the Tom Harrell Quintet, the Mingus Big Band/Orchestra/Dynasty and Ben Riley's Monk Legacy Septet. His albums as a bandleader include "Times Change" (2001), Intuition (2004), Veneration (2007) and Hopes and Dreams (2008), in addition to 2007's If Dreams Come True in collaboration with his wife, vocalist Carolyn Leonhart.
