New York-based guitarist/composer and 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Joel Harrison’s first Firehouse 12 date as a leader will feature a new book of compositions* for septet that incorporates the techniques and expressive qualities of some of his favorite classical composers, including John Adams, Charles Ives and Olivier Messiaen.
Please join us at 3pm for a free workshop by Chamber Music America’s Grant Primer for Ensembles and Presenters. Jeanette Vuocolo, program director, CMA Jazz, will introduce Chamber Music America’s jazz grant programs in the areas of commissioning, residency, and presenting. Learn about eligibility requirements and guidelines to completing the applications—in advance of the 2011 deadlines. Vuocolo will also give an overview of CMA grant opportunities for classical, contemporary, and world music ensembles and spotlight a selection of current grant recipients and their projects.
Space is limited: to R.S.V.P., please contact Caitlin Murphy, program assistant, (212) 242-2022, ext. 16, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
