The group, which performs all new original music specifically written and arranged by Musillami for this all-star sextet, is touring in May in support of its debut release on Playscape Recordings. The Michael Musillami Trio will lead a FREE workshop co-sponsored by Firehouse 12 and Neighborhood Music School. The workshop, FEEDING CREATIVITY, will take place from 3:30p-4:30p at NMS on the day of the concert. The trio will deconstruct one of their pieces and apply some tools to enhance a musician's creative reach. The trio will explore: -Rhythm variations & tempo changes within the context of a composition -Intervallic textures -Expansion of motifs -Changing a musician's role within the group -Removing bar lines -Having fun playing and creating music stress free All ages and instruments are welcome. Intermediate/Advanced musicians interested in opening up their creative side either improvising or composing music will find the most value in attending.
