On Friday, April 22nd, Firehouse 12 is pleased to present bassist Chris Lightcap and his group Bigmouth featuring saxophonists Tony Malaby and Chris Cheek, pianist Craig Taborn, and drummer Gerald Cleaver. The group's most recent release is Epicenter from 2015.
Bigmouth is "a stellar example of accessible, forward-thinking new jazz" (Troy Collins, Point of Departure). Lightcap's "expertise on the bass is second to none, as he pushed and prods his way through these original works with an absolutely stellar band" (Michael G Nastos, All Music Guide). The music is "brimmingly alive...from start to finish this music sings" (Lloyd Sachs, Downbeat).
Lightcap has worked with Marc Ribot, Regina Carter, Craig Taborn, Glen Hansard, Mark Turner, John Medeski, Jason Moran, Tomasz Stanko, Chris Potter, Paul Motian, John Scofield, Dave Liebman, Paquito D’Rivera, Anthony Braxton, Joe Morris, Sheila Jordan, James Carter, Butch Morris, Ben Monder and many other artists.
