On December 6th, Firehouse 12 is pleased to present drummer/bandleader Ralph Peterson and his group Fo'tet Augmented.
Peterson has been called "one of his generation’s most talented bandleaders and composers" (C. Andrew Hovan, All About Jazz), with an "ability to put his stamp on [the music] with his always
interesting, and often surprising, drumming" (Ross Musto, All About Jazz). John Kelman wrote "[c]ompositionally, Peterson’s no slouch, contributing strong, blow-ready tunes that fit Unity's stylistic purview" (All About Jazz).
Ralph Peterson emerged on the jazz scene in the mid '80s with the Out of the Blue band put together by Blue Note Records. He went on to record as a solo artist for Blue Note, Volition, Sirrocco, and his own Oynx imprint. In addition to his work as a drummer and respected bandleader he also performs on trumpet in his quintet. He is a full professor at the Berklee College of Music and has performed with Art Blakey, Branford Marsalis, David Murray, Roy Hargrove, Jon Faddis, Deway Redman, and many others.
