The music is an incisive, modern take on the post-bop and modal jazz of the 1960s. New York Times critic Nate Chinen, writing in review of the group's 2010 appearance at the Jazz Standard characterized the group as "speaking an established language, proudly and knowingly, with the conviction that there's always more to be said."
"There is not a weak link in Jeremy's band" writes Jeff Krow in Audiophile Audition reviewing "The Talented Mr. Pelt". He continues, "they just keep on getting tighter in their interplay.
